If you have not already, please connect on Class Dojo & Remind (code: ellisbg).

February Newsletter and Homework

Love is in the air… it must be February! We are excited to continue to love ourselves by incorporating the 7 Habits of Healthy Kids into our day to day learning. Below are the checklists that have been going home every other week, just in case you misplace one. Remember to have a conversation with your student about how they will incorporate that habit into their life, complete the checklist items, then sign and turn it in for a few extra DOJOs.

7 Habits Flyers

We’ve also been practicing this song to help us remember the 7 Habits. Check it out!

January Homework and Newsletter

Happy new year! We’re starting 2017 off with a lot of NEW, including our homework.

Word Work: Jan Leveled Word Work Menus Homework

Word Work homework is now leveled to your child’s specific word work group. Each student knows which group they are in and should ONLY complete homework from their menu. These will be given out in class, but above is the link for reference.

Reading Log: Main Idea Reading Log

We are working hard on the concept of main idea and details as the data has shown it’s been our lowest standard across the board. Each night students should find the main idea of their reading along with “evidence” or details to support it. Also, students will now calculate the elapsed time that they have read to add in a cross-curricular element! Only estimating to the nearest hour is required, but encourage them to challenge themselves by finding the elapsed time to the nearest half hour or minute.

Newsletter: Monthly Newsletter Jan

Here are our updates for January. As always if you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to email (, call, or text via Remind. I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday season!
